Learning Philosophy
Why do I learn? I learn because I want to discover new things. I want to know more about life and the world that I live in. I want to travel to different countries and gain knowledge from different perspectives. Learning is a crucial part of a our lives. It may seem complex, especially as a high school student. Yet it helps us connect with the world, and the people around us. Getting involved is the key to my philosophy. And although meeting my fullest potential in learning will be a challenge, I believe that having some essential elements will support me: Respect, Risk-taking, and Reflection.
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”― Benjamin Franklin This quote sort of represents my learning philosophy. "Tell me and I forget..." If I don't take action, I will immediately forget what I have learned. I can relate this with studying vocabulary. If I learn a new word, but I don't use it in any of my writing, it will just gradually disappear from my mind. "...teach me and I may remember..." Teaching me new topics and ideas may or may not interest me. Moreover, "...involve me and I learn." and I will surely remember what I have learned.
My learning philosophy will most likely change in the future, but this is what I believe at the moment. We learn things every single day and having to put all of it to waste is a shame. |
